Claremont girl wins new teen role in Neighbours

Claremont girl wins new teen role in Neighbours
5th August 2006, 16:30 WST

A Perth girl is one of two lucky teenagers who will move into Melbourne’s famous Ramsay Street this weekend after winning roles on Australia’s longest running soap.

Adelaide Kane, 15, from Claremont, and Sam Clark, 18, from South Australia, will move to Melbourne to take up three-month contracts with Neighbours, with
the possibility of an extension of up to three years.

The move to Ramsay Street follows months of gruelling auditions after Dolly magazine, Grundy Productions and the Ten Network announced a nationwide competition to recruit two new stars.

More than 7000 wannabes sent in video clips of themselves with 180 making the short list, 70 audi
tioning and then 35 put through their paces in front of hundreds of onlookers at Westfield shopping centres around the country.

“I was so shocked I really couldn’t believe that they called up my name,” Adelaide said.

She will play Lou Carpenter’s adopted daughter Louise who left Ramsay Street as a child and is returning as a teenager in January.
